GENERAL/PURCHASING TIPS:
-Don't buy cyanide bombed fish - they will live only 7-10 days, usually very very low prices to move fish out
-Avoid baby Arowanas that still have their egg sack attached - the mothers are mouth brooders and don't let go of the fry, so their mother's heads are cut off to release the fry.
-Avoid hormone bred Discus, their livers are over worked and ready to shutdown
-Do not buy on impule and know how to care for your livestock before purchasing, if you can't provide them what they need, they will die
-Avoid wild caught fish/inverts/corals, majority of livestock is wild caught
-Join local fish clubs, they are helpful with information, experience, and support their members
-Always ask questions, it never hurts to ask questions.
-How to choose a local fish store
-When buying livestock be extra selective for disease and parasites, it only takes one bug to destroy your beautiful tank
-Remember to have fun and not slave over your tank
-When on vacation don't rely on friends and family that don't know anything about fish... somtimes even paying someone who knows what they're doing can save your fish for disaster.
